About Thrive with Mentoring

THRIVE for Mentoring is a global not-for-profit Mentoring initiative that I launched (with the support of a fabulous team of course) in Zurich in December 2017. We also launched a highly successful Mumbai chapter in early January 2018. More events are planned in Switzerland, in Munich, Amsterdam, London multiple cities across India amongst others.

Purpose of THRIVE:

Catalyze relationships globally where women support each other to succeed

I will not belabour the importance of mentoring in helping someone grow and develop. As a leadership development practitioner, I had the opportunity to introduce formal mentoring programs in several corporates/industries. The majority of the mentors and mentees in these programs were male. I realised that women found it difficult to raise their hands up, and they were also not nominated as often to be either mentors/mentees as there was a unconscious bias in the system. The other limitation was that in-company mentors meant that the mentees could not be really open about their aspirations, and as such benefitted to a lesser extent.

With those experiences in mind, and with the purpose of helping emerging female leaders grow, I launched THRIVE : Mentoring for success, by and for women. The program has received unprecedented support through senior women leaders who have registered as mentors to ‘pay-it-forward’ and emerging women leaders who are keen to receive mentorship and learn and grow.

During the launch event of THRIVE we hold chemistry meetings where the pre – matched mentors and mentees get to find their best fit, and we also conduct a basic training, introducing supportive documentation to ensure that the mentorship is successful. The idea is to have a couple of other events during this mentorship year to share learnings and to celebrate the relationship. This is dependent on the local chapter leaders and the ideas they want to bring to life.

THRIVErs commit for a year long mentoring relationship, where they meet each other at least once a month for an hour to work on the mentoring objectives they have established in their mentoring contract. THRIVE supports both mentors and mentees to make their relationship successful, and help each other grow through an increasing repository of ‘nudges’.

THRIVE is a classic example of collaboration across borders. In Zurich with the Blossom Network, Lean-IN Zurich chapter; in India with BackToTheFront, THRIVE is only possible because of my wonderful friends (Aparna Vishwasrao, Katja Rieger, Anna Stando, Evelina Urbonaviciene, Bharti Dekate, Anjali Gulati) and our ever increasing group of mentors and mentees across the globe that are supporting us wholeheartedly to move this from vision to reality.

We are putting the principles of Design Thinking in practice : Thinking big, starting small and moving fast.

And making the Mentoring Magic come alive…
